Companion Animal Federation - History

Companion Animal Federation (CAF) was founded to promote kindness, prevent and suppress cruelty to animals and to suppress abuse to companion animals.

History:

  • Companion Animal Federation (CAF) is officially founded on July 13, 2002 as a registered non-profit-making organization of the HKSAR and becomes a registered animal welfare charitable institution in March 2006. CAF is the first animal welfare charity in hong kong to apply ozone as alternative treatment to canine skin diseases such as scrabies and demodex.
  • CAF founding members come from all walks of life, but share one belief in common : "Uplifting communual Human-Animal Bond"©
  • CAF believes that the continuity of its charity work is not on a single person alone. It depends on dedicated founding members, staff and volunteers and supportive donors. Above all, our success will be both our ability to live up to our missions and together with your support.

Major Achievements:

2009

Jan - upgrade Orphanage electricity meter to provide better living environment for canine and feline orphans.

Feb - nominated as the committee member of the Hong Kong Ozone Association.

Apr - Round the City Fun Fun Talk 2009 launhed to promote public awareness on animal welfare

2008

Oct - Fundraised for cementing dog playground.

Jan - Working on a project on using dog boo as alternative source of renewable energy. The project is funding by CLP Hong Kong Ltd.

2007

Jun - First official reprot on ozone veterinary research application published.

2006

Mar - Registered as Animal Welfare Charity in Hong Kong. (File : 91/7197).

Feb - Started joint research on applying ozone treatment as alternative treatment on canine skin disease. A joint research has been started with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

2005

Oct - outreach team being set - up for psychological animal therapy to organisations for the mentally retarded.

2004

Jul - setup of CAF Orphanage and Rescue Centre in Fanling.

2003

Dec - Appointment of Auditors

Nov - Registered as a limited by guarantee animal welfare organization under the Company Registry in Hong Kong.

Jul - Joint program with sister animal welfare organizations in Hong Kong in the progress of liasing with the Housing Authority with the registration and licensing of dogs in the pulbic housing esates and compulsory desex operation for better hygienic and animal population control.

2002

Dec - First fundraising function : Snow Dog Charity Premiere.

Jul - Formation of Companion Animal Federation under the Hong Kong Society Ordinance as non-profit voluntary organization.
