Companion Animal Federation -- and the animals in its care -- urgently need your help!

At about 6pm on April 19, 2010, CAF's neighbour's home adjacent to the Wopehland shelter in Sheung Shui erupted in flames and quickly burned to the ground. Five dogs and an unknown number of cats perished in the blaze. Firefighters extinguished it using two fire engines.

Fire Services staff suspect an electrical short circuit sparked the fire.

While the fire started at the neighbour's, CAF's shelter and its operation have also been seriously affected, disrupting the ability to manage the 60 animals under its care. Despite this, it has opened its playground to house the 40 dogs that survived the blaze next door who are owned by Charlotte Chan.

CAF urgently needs:

CAF staff and volunteers worked tirelessly through the evening and into the small hours of the morning to tend to the frightened and injured animals in its own care, and those of the neighbour. You can help ease the animals' suffering - by donating time, manpower, food, shelter or money. CAF, a registered charity, provides tax receipts for donations of $100 or more.

Please help CAF and the animals in its care recover from this sudden, unexpected tragedy.
